The Australian Retail sales had various aspects. "The slow wages growth and soft consumer sentiment even with the RBA rate cut suggest another underwhelming month," analysts at Westpac said.

"There were rises in five of the six industries this month, although overall the retail environment remains subdued" said Ben James, Director of Quarterly Economy Wide Surveys.

As Australia’s Retail sales grow, the AUD/JPY pair recovered from multi months lows.

The AUD/USD pair has muted response to this data but AUD/NZD rises.

The Retail Sales released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics is a survey of goods sold by retailers and it is an indicator which shows the conditions of the Australian economy.
