South Korean news outlet Yonhap reports the latest statement by the South Korean Foreign Minister saying that Japan is likely to pass a bill this week to remove South Korea from its whitelist for business cooperation.
"We will try to negotiate with Tokyo and resolve this issue through diplomacy, as well as persuade the neighboring country to eliminate all such actions against Seoul," he said.
"We are planning to send this message to Tokyo so that they will be aware of their unfair treatment to exclude Seoul from the white list and say that Japan will also suffer if the bill is approved."
Meanwhile, diplomatic sources are expecting Secretary of State Kang Kyung-Wha and Japanese counterpart Taro Kono to hold talks at the ASEAN Regional Forum in Thailand next week on August 1 or August 2.
