Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 2%. Police have opened fire on protesters in eastern side of Hong Kong. News reports suggest one protester was injured.
The MSCI index fell 0.5%.
Chinese stocks fell sharply with the blue chips index down 1.3%.
South Korean’s KOSPI lost 0.4%.
Japan's Nikkei lost its early profits after economic data showed Japanese machinery orders fell for the third straight month.
Australian stocks hit a two-week high and rose 0.55%.
Safe-haven yen and gold climbed.
